四川全省面积48.6万平方公里，居全国第5位，辖21个市（州）、183个县（市、区），与重庆、贵州、云南、西藏、青海、甘肃和陕西等7省（自治区、直辖市）接壤，有全国最大的彝族聚居区、第二大藏族聚居区和唯一的羌族聚居区。2024年全省经济总量达到64697亿元，保持全国第5位。

Sichuan covers an area of 486,000 square kilometers, ranking fifth in China. It borders seven provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities) including Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan, Xizang, Qinghai, Gansu and Shaanxi. Sichuan administer 21 cities(prefectures) that include 183 counties(county-level cities and districts). It is home to the largest Yi ethnic group settlement, the second-largest Zang ethnic group settlement, and the only Qiang ethic group settlement in China. In 2024, Sichuan’s Gross Domestic Product(GDP) reached RMB 6,469.7 billion, being the 5th-largest provincial economy of China.

历史文化悠久。 先秦时为巴国、蜀国之地，北宋置川峡路，后分置益州、梓州、利州、夔州四路，总称四川路，始有四川之名。为中国道教发源地之一，古蜀文明发祥地，全世界最早的纸币“交子”出现地，蜀锦、四川皮影戏等被列入联合国教科文组织非物质文化遗产名录。四川盐业文化，酒文化源远流长；三国文化，红军文化，巴人文化精彩纷呈；特别是以三星堆、金沙遗址为代表的古蜀文明璀璨而神秘。2024年年末共有国有博物馆253个，文物保护管理机构169个，全国重点文物保护单位262处，省级文物保护单位1214处。国家级非物质文化遗产名录153项，省级非物质文化遗产名录1132项。

♦ ⌈ History and Culture ⌉

Sichuan is steeped in history and time-honored cultures. During the pre-Qin period (prior to 221 BC), the area that is now Sichuan Province was part of the ancient Ba and Shu states. In the Northern Song dynasty (960-1127), this region was administratively organized as Chuanxia Circuit. (The term "circuit" was used to denote a large administrative district in the Song dynasty.) Subsequently, it was subdivided into four administrative regions: Yizhou, Zizhou, Lizhou, and Kuizhou circuits, collectively known as the Sichuan Circuit, a name that gives rise to the present designation of "Sichuan". Sichuan is one of the birthplaces of Chinese Daoism, the cradle of the ancient Shu civilization, and the site where the world's earliest paper money, Jiaozi, was introduced. Among Sichuan's diverse cultural traditions, Shujin brocade and Sichuan shadow puppetry have been recognized on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Sichuan’s rich heritage encompasses centuries-old traditions related to salt production and the crafting of alcoholic beverages. The region is also a vibrant showcase of the cultures associated with the Three Kingdoms period, the history of the Red Army, and the Ba people. Particularly notable are the ancient Shu civilizations represented by the Sanxingdui and Jinsha sites, which are spectacular and shrouded in mystery. As of the end of 2024, Sichuan has 253 public museums, 169 cultural heritage management institutions, 262 major historical and cultural sites under state protection, and 1,214 historical and cultural sites under provincial protection. It also claims 153 entries in the representative list of state-level intangible cultural heritage items and 1,132 items in the provincial-level intangible cultural heritage list.

♦ ⌈ 自然资源 ⌉

自然资源丰富。 拥有世界自然遗产3处(九寨沟、黄龙、大熊猫栖息地),世界文化遗产1处(青城山—都江堰),世界文化和自然遗产1处(峨眉山—乐山大佛)。2024年年末全省自然保护区154个，面积7.9万平方公里。全省共建成国家生态文明建设示范区39个，“绿水青山就是金山银山”实践创新基地10个。年末全省共有湿地公园55个，其中国家湿地公园（含试点）29个。

♦ ⌈ Natural Resources ⌉

Sichuan is rich in natural resources. It has three world natural heritage sites (Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area,  Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area, and Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries), one world cultural heritage site (Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan Irrigation System), and one world cultural and natural heritage site (Mount Emei Scenic Area, including Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area). As of the end of 2024, the province is home to 154 nature reserves, covering a total area of 79,000 square kilometers. The province has successfully established 39 national demonstration zones for eco-environmental progress and 10 innovative bases for practicing the concept that "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets". As of year-end 2024, the province has established 55 wetland parks, with 29 of them designated as national wetland parks (including pilot projects).

交通设施便利。 成都国际航空枢纽年旅客吞吐量增长16.6%，突破8700万人次、居全国第3位；货邮吞吐量增长33%，突破100万吨。中欧班列（成渝）累计开行量突破3.6万列，长江班列稳定开行。

♦ ⌈ Transportation Infrastructure ⌉

Sichuan has developed a highly convenient transportation infrastructure network. Chengdu's international aviation hubs have experienced a 16.6 percent increase in throughput, exceeding 87 million trips and ranking third nationwide, while cargo and mail throughput has surged by 33 percent, surpassing one million tons. The China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu and Chongqing lines) has cumulatively completed more than 36,000 trips, and the Yangtze River Express train service continues to operate reliably.
