西南科技大学坐落于中国科技城——四川省绵阳市。学校是四川省人民政府与教育部、国防科技工业局共建高校，被教育部确定为国家重点建设的西部14所高校之一。
学校溯源于1952年重庆建筑工程学校，辗转川渝多地办学。1978年迁至原清华绵阳分校校址，并入清华分校资源。1993年更名西南工学院。2000年组建西南科技大学，开启多学科融合发展新阶段。
校园占地5448亩，环境优美，设施完善。学校现有全日制本、硕、博学生4万余人（含留学生），设16个学院，覆盖工、农、理、文、经济等9大学科门类，开设本科专业77个；拥有5个博士点、24个硕士点及3个博士后流动站。材料科学、工程学、化学、环境/生态学、植物学与动物学、地球科学、农业科学7个学科进入ESI排名前1%。8个学科上榜2023软科世界一流学科，位居四川省属高校第二。

Southwest University of Science and Technology (SWUST) is located in Mianyang, Sichuan Province, known as China's Science and Technology City. The university is a joint institution established by the People's Government of Sichuan Province, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of National Defense Science and Industry. It has been designated by the Ministry of Education as one of the 14 key universities in the western region of China.
The university traces its origins back to the Chongqing Institute of Architectural Engineering, founded in 1952, and has operated in various locations in Sichuan and Chongqing. In 1978, it was relocated to the site of the former Tsinghua University Mianyang Branch. It was renamed Southwest Institute of Technology in 1993 and became Southwest University of Science and Technology in 2000, marking the beginning of a new phase of multidisciplinary development.
The campus covers an area of 5,448 acres, featuring a beautiful environment and well-equipped facilities. The university currently has over 40,000 full-time students (including international students) and comprises 16 colleges, covering nine major disciplines: engineering, agriculture, science, literature, and economics, among others. It offers 77 undergraduate programs, 5 doctoral programs, 24 master's programs, and 3 postdoctoral research stations. Seven disciplines, namely Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Environment/Ecology, Plant and Animal Science, Geosciences, and Agricultural Sciences, have entered the top 1% of the ESI rankings. Eight disciplines were listed in the 2023 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), ranking second among provincial universities in Sichuan.
The university has over 2,730 faculty and staff members, including 1,631 doctoral and master's supervisors, and 20 faculty members are listed among the top 2% of scientists globally. The university boasts 2 national-level research platforms and 34 provincial and ministerial research platforms, receiving over 240 awards, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award, in the past five years. In the US News 2024 World University Rankings, SWUST ranked 113th among universities in mainland China and first among provincial universities in Sichuan.
The university has established collaborations with more than 30 foreign universities and research institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and other countries, and has strengthened international cooperation and exchange programs in teaching, research, and talent cultivation with countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.

♦ 一、国际化人才培养架构 International Talent Development Framework
学校留学生教育历经20余年的发展，实现了本、硕、博学历教育贯通，形成语言生-本科生-硕士生-博士生的全链条培养结构。截至2025年，累计培养了来自美国、澳大利亚、俄罗斯、哈萨克斯坦、巴基斯坦、老挝、加纳、萨尔瓦多等全球6大洲45个国2000余名留学生，其中研究生占比达65%，专业覆盖工、农、理、经济、文、管理、艺术等领域。
Over more than two decades of development, SWUST’s international student education has established a comprehensive academic structure spanning undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. It forms a full-chain cultivation system encompassing language learners, undergraduates, master’s students, and doctoral candidates. By 2025, the university will have trained over 2,000 international students from 45 countries across six continents, including the United States, Australia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Laos, Ghana, and El Salvador. Among them, 65% are graduate students, with disciplines covering engineering, agriculture, science, economics, humanities, management, and arts.
♦ 二、课程建设与学科支撑 Curriculum Development and Academic Support
1. 课程建设方面：学校有9门国家级一流课程，80门省级一流课程，8门省级高阶课程，依托材料、工程、环境等ESI排名全球前5‰的优势学科，打造了20余个英文授课留学生项目。作为四川省首批授予的“来华示范基地”之一，我校“四川来华留学科技+文化示范基地”率先开拓在线课程，提供远程教育，多门课程被评为四川省来华留学生精品课程。
1. Curriculum Development
- The university offers 9 national first-class courses, 80 provincial first-class courses, and 8 provincial advanced courses. Leveraging its globally competitive disciplines—such as materials science, engineering, and environmental science (ranked in the top 5‰ by ESI)—SWUST has developed 20+ English-taught programs for international students.
- As one of the first Sichuan Province first designed “Model base for International Students” , SWUST’s "Sichuan Sci-Tech & Culture Model Base for International Students" pioneered online courses and remote education. Multiple courses have been recognized as "Sichuan Provincial Exemplary Courses for International Students."
2. 在师资配置方面。学校现有教职工2730余人，副高级以上职称人员916人，博硕导师1631人，从董事单位等聘任院士29人，全球前2%顶尖科学家20人，外籍专家教师43人。20%教师有海外留学经历，可以实现双语教学。在部分学院创新推行留学生"双导师制"，由中外导师联合指导，确保留学生培养质量。
2. Faculty Resources
- SWUST employs 2,730 faculty members, including 916 associate professors or higher and 1,631 doctoral/master’s supervisors. It has also recruited 29 academicians from partner institutions, 20 global top 2% scientists, and 43 international experts.
- 20% of faculty members have overseas academic experience, enabling bilingual instruction. A "dual-supervisor system" (pairing Chinese and international mentors) is implemented in some schools to ensure high-quality guidance for international students.
3. 在科研实践方面。学校建有环境友好能源材料国家重点实验室等国家级科研平台2个，省部级科研平台34个。学校完成了多项国家重大专项、国家社科基金项目等，获得国家科技进步二等奖等国家级和省部级科技奖励240余项。学校大力支持留学生参与科研项目，发表高水平论文并参与国际学术会议。近两年留学生发表SCI，EI论文60余篇，获得多项省级以上奖励。
3. Research and Practice
- The university hosts 2 national-level research platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Environment-Friendly Energy Materials, and 34 provincial/ministerial-level platforms. It has completed multiple National Major Science Projects and National Social Science Fund projects.It has also won 240+ national/provincial awards, such as the National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize.
- International students are encouraged to engage in research, publish high-level papers, and attend global conferences. In recent years, they have published 60+ SCI/EI-indexed papers and received numerous provincial or higher awards.
♦ 三、奖学金支持体系 Scholarship Support System
为吸引全球优秀人才，促进跨文化教育交流，提升学校国际影响力，并培养具有中国认知的国际化人才，学校形成了“基础保障+卓越激励”奖学金体系。除四川省政府奖学金外，学校还单独设立了西南科技大学外国留学生、优秀留学生奖学金、计算机专项奖学金等多类别的学校奖学金支持体系。根据学生情况减免学费、减免住宿费、提供生活补贴、保险补贴、对优秀学生进行表彰和奖励等。留学生奖学金资助覆盖面接近100%。

1. Cultural Engagement
- Rooted in Mianyang (a hub of science and technology), SWUST promotes "cultural exchange and technology empowerment" through platforms like the "Study at SWUST·Experience China" cultural exchange brand. Collaborative initiatives with local governments and enterprises—such as "Global Alumni Mianyang Tour", intangible cultural heritage experiences, "Tax Afternoon Tea"， participation in Mianyang’s cultural and tourism promotion. The university builds cross-cultural understanding and highlight Sichuan’s economic, technological, and educational advancements.
2. 语言融入： 以国际中文教育为支点，构建覆盖“汉语进修-本科-硕士”的中文教育体系，推出汉语桥、文化工作坊等特色课程，打造辐射川北地区的国际化语言人才培养高地。培养了100余名国际中文教育专业留学生，150余名国际中文教师志愿者。同时，作为四川省19个HSK/HSKK标准化考点之一，学校创新语言能力培养模式，形成从零基础到高阶应用的阶梯式教学闭环。
2. Language Integration
- SWUST has built a comprehensive Chinese education system spanning from language training, undergraduate to master’s programs. It offers specialized courses like "Chinese Bridge" and cultural workshops, establishing itself as a regional hub for international language education.
- The university has trained 100+ international Chinese education graduates and 150+ Chinese language teaching volunteers. As one of Sichuan’s 19 HSK/HSKK standardized test centers, SWUST employs a step-by-step teaching model from beginner to advanced levels.
