♦ ⌈ Application Guide on Sichuan Government Scholarship for International Students ⌉

In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and people around the world and attract  more outstanding international students and scholars to study and engage in scientific research at higher educational institutions in Sichuan, the People's Government of Sichuan Province has set up "Sichuan Government Scholarship for International Students" (hereinafter referred to as SGS) since 2013.

I. Coverage and Details

SGS is classified into five types.

Type 1: scholarship for PhD Program (RMB30,000/Year)

Type 2: scholarship for Master Program (RMB25,000/Year)

Type 3: scholarship for Bachelor Program (RMB20,000/Year)

Type 4: scholarship for Diploma Program (RMB15,000/Year)

Type 5: scholarship for Non-degree One-year study Program (RMB10,000)

The scholarship is eligible to cover tuition, expenses for accommodation and living, and medical insurance during the corresponding study period.

Note: For Type1-4 scholarship recipients, the qualification will be reviewed by the corresponding university each academic year.

Ⅱ. Application Eligibility

1. Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically

2. Applicants must abide by Chinese laws and regulations.

3. Applicants shall have the corresponding Chinese proficiency and provide relevant certificates (such as HSK certificate)

4. Applicant that has received any other scholarships offered by Chinese government or organizations is not entitled to apply SGS.

5. Applicants must:

(1) be an academically excellent holder of high school diploma or its equivalent under the age of 30 when applying for an bachelor’s program

(2) be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 with two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors when applying for a Master’s program,  

(2) (3) be an academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 with two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors when applying for a doctoral program.

(4) have the corresponding academic qualifications and language proficiency and be under the age of 45 when applying for the Non-degree study program. Recipients of this type are not allowed to reapply within 3 years from the award year.

(5) meet entry requirements of the applied university and program.

III. Application Process

1. Applicant can check the List of Sichuan universities recruiting SGS students. For more information, please refer to the official websites of those universities.

2. An applicant shall reach the universities for admission documents;

3. An applicant shall fill in and submit the admission documents required by the universities concerned;

4. The universities concerned will organize an expert panel to examine applicants’ eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-list candidates;

5. The universities concerned will notify the admission results to the applicants and help with the admission procedures.

6. Application period is generally from February to April for Autumn semester and February to April for Spring semester.
