西南交通大学是教育部直属全国重点大学，国家首批“双一流”“211工程”“985工程优势学科创新平台”“2011协同创新计划”重点建设高校，设有研究生院。

Southwest Jiaotong University is a key national university directly under the Ministry of Education of China. It is one of the first institutions to be included in the Double First-Class initiative, the "211 Project," the "985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform," and the "2011 Collaborative Innovation Program."

学校办学特色鲜明，轨道交通学科群实力位居全国前列，已建立起世界轨道交通领域最完备的学科专业体系、人才培养体系和科研创新体系。现设有34个学院（中心）等二级办学单位，拥有交通运输工程、机械工程2个一级学科国家重点学科，车辆工程、桥梁与隧道工程等10个二级学科国家重点学科，20个一级学科博士学位授权点，5个博士专业学位授权类别，43个一级学科硕士学位授权点，25个硕士专业学位授权类别，17个博士后科研流动站。

Southwest Jiaotong University is distinguished by its distinctive characteristics, with its rail transportation discipline cluster ranking among the top in the country. It has established the most comprehensive academic discipline system, talent cultivation framework, and scientific research and innovation system in the field of global rail transportation. Currently, SWJTU comprises 34  schools (centers). It is home to two national key first-level disciplines in Transportation Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, along with ten national key second-level disciplines, including Vehicle Engineering, Bridge and Tunnel Engineering, among others. The university offers 20 first-level doctoral degree programs, 5 categories of professional doctoral degrees, 43 first-level master's degree programs, 25 categories of professional master's degrees, and 17 postdoctoral research stations.

学校现有专任教师2500余人，其中，中国科学院院士2人、中国工程院院士4人、美国工程院外籍院士1人，国家级人才200余人。现有全日制在校本科生29368人、硕士研究生13436人、博士研究生3666人。

The university has a faculty of over 2,500 full-time teachers, including 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 foreign academician of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, and over 200 recipients of national-level talent awards. The total full-time student enrollment stands at 29,368 undergraduates, 13,436 master's students, and 3,666 doctoral students.

学校坚持国际化办学，统筹“引进来”和“走出去”，持续提升国际影响力、竞争力，同60个国家和地区的200余所高校及科研机构建立了合作关系，与英国利兹大学合作成立“西南交大-利兹学院”，牵头成立“一带一路”铁路国际教育联盟，打造“天佑铁道学院”品牌，与泰国孔敬大学合作共建首个海外天佑铁道学院，高质量建设成都东部（国际）校区，“2+2”“本硕4+1”“中法4+4”等留学、游学、访学项目和“暑期国际课程周”等在地国际化项目涵盖全部年级；累计建有7个国家外专创新引智基地（“111计划”）；办有6本国际学术期刊。

Southwest Jiaotong University upholds an internationalized approach to education, balancing both "bringing in" and "going out" strategies, continuously enhancing its global influence and competitiveness. It has established cooperative relationships with over 200 universities and research institutions in 60 countries and regions. The university has partnered with the University of Leeds (UK) to establish the “Southwest Jiaotong University-Leeds School” and is a leading member of the “Belt and Road” Railway International Education Alliance. It has also created the “Tianyou Railway School” brand in collaboration with Khon Kaen University in Thailand, building the first overseas Tianyou Railway School. The university is committed to high-quality construction of its Eastern (International) Campus in Chengdu. Its study abroad programs, including “2+2,” “4+1,” “4+4”programs with France, and “Summer International Course Week”, are available to students across all academic years. The university has established seven national foreign expert innovation and intelligence bases (under the “111 Program”) and publishes six international academic journals.

Southwest Jiaotong University has a long history of education for international students and a complete level of education. It has two education systems including degree programs and non-degree programs,  Undergraduate Program, Master's Programs and Ph.D. Programs.

学校办学特色鲜明，在轨道交通、土木、机械、电气、计算机、信息和经济管理等多学科上具有显著优势。秉承我校“严格要求，严谨治学”的办学传统，学校持续推进落实来华留学质量提升工程。持续完善基于来华留学生在培养过程中的学业表现信息采集与跟踪、毕业达标情况的学力分析和预警等为信息基础的留学生学业督导机制，构建留学生教育质量检测体系。

SWJTU features distinctive characteristics in its educational offerings, with notable strengths across multiple disciplines such as rail transportation, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, and economic management. Upholding its educational tradition of "strict requirements and rigorous scholarship," the university is committed to advancing the implementation of the quality enhancement initiative for international students studying in China. It continuously refines the academic supervision mechanism for international students, which is based on the collection and tracking of their academic performance information during the cultivation process, as well as the analysis and early warning of their graduation qualifications. This mechanism serves as an information foundation for building a comprehensive education quality monitoring system for international students.

非学历项目专注于轨道交通工程、高速铁路技术、汉语学习与中国文化体验等领域，配备经验丰富的教师，采用小班教学，对应不同层级和需求的留学生学习要求，确保良好的教学效果。

The non-degree program focuses on rail transit engineering, high-speed railway technology, Chinese language learning and Chinese cultural experience, and is equipped with experienced teachers and adopts low class sizes teaching to meet the learning requirements of international students at different levels and needs to ensure good teaching results.
