成都中医药大学始建于1956年，是新中国最早建立的四所中医药高等院校之一，是教育部、四川省人民政府、国家中医药管理局共建高校，国家“双一流”建设高校。学校占地面积约1800亩，设有20个学院、39个本科专业，现有全日制在校学生2.6万余人。
学校是一所以中医药学科为主体、医药健康相关学科专业相互支撑、协调发展的特色鲜明的高水平中医药大学，拥有1个国家“双一流”建设学科（中药学），4个国家重点学科及44个省部级重点学科。在ESI全球学科排名中，药理学与毒理学进入前1‰，临床医学、化学、生物学与生物化学、农学、植物学与动物学等5个学科位列前1%。学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职员工1600余人，其中中国工程院院士1人、国医大师4人、全国名中医5人、国家级教学名师6人，国家级专家人才100余人。学校有国家级一流专业建设点11个、省级一流专业14个；国家级一流课程30门、省级一流课程139门，在全国中医药院校中名列前茅。学校建有省部共建西南特色中药资源国家重点实验室、国家级实验教学示范中心、国家中医药虚拟仿真实验教学中心等91个实验平台。现有直属附属医院4所、非直属附属医院9所，医联体联盟成员单位105所。
学校与50余个国家和地区建立了交流、合作关系，是外交部、教育部“中国-东盟教育培训中心”，科技部“国际科技合作基地”、国家中医药管理局“中医药国际合作（教育、医疗）基地”、教育部来华留学示范基地建设高校和接受中国政府奖学金高校之一，与美国、加拿大、新西兰、泰国等国家和地区开展交流与合作，开办中外合作办学机构“基尔健康医学院”，在葡萄牙、南非、加拿大设有海外分校，在澳门设有国际学院；在黑山、德国、白俄罗斯设有成都中医药大学附属医院分院；在塔吉克斯坦建设“中国-塔吉克斯坦传统医药中心”。

Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1956. It is one of the four earliest higher education institutions of traditional Chinese medicine established in New China. It is a university jointly constructed by the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as a university included in the national "Double First-Class" initiative. The university covers an area of approximately 1,800 mu. It has 20 colleges and offers 39 undergraduate majors, with over 26,000 full-time students currently enrolled.
The university is a high-level university of traditional Chinese medicine with distinct characteristics, featuring traditional Chinese medicine disciplines as the main body, and related disciplines and majors in medicine and health supporting and developing in a coordinated manner. It has 1 national "Double First-Class" construction discipline (Chinese Materia Medica), 4 national key disciplines, and 44 provincial and ministerial key disciplines. In the ESI global subject ranking, Pharmacology and Toxicology has entered the top 1‰, and five disciplines including Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Biology & Biochemistry, Agriculture，and Plant and Animal Scienceare ranked among the top 1%. The university has a strong faculty, with more than 1,600 teaching and administrative staff, including 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 4 National Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 5 National Famous Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctors, 6 national-level teaching masters, and more than 100 national-level expert talents. The university has 11 national first-class major construction sites, 14 provincial first-class majors, 30 national first-class courses, and 139 provincial first-class courses, ranking among the top in Chinese universities of traditional Chinese medicine. The university has established 91 experimental platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Southwest Characteristic Chinese Medicine Resources jointly constructed by the province and the ministry, the national experimental teaching demonstration center, and the national virtual simulation experimental teaching center for traditional Chinese medicine. It currently has 4 directly affiliated hospitals, 9 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 105 member units of the medical consortium alliance.
The university has established exchange and cooperation relationships with more than 50 countries and regions. It is the "China-ASEAN Education and Training Center" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, the "International Science and Technology Cooperation Base" of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the "Traditional Chinese Medicine International Cooperation (Education and Medical) Base" of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a demonstration base construction university for studying in China under the Ministry of Education, and one of the universities accepting Chinese government scholarships. It has carried out exchanges and cooperation with countries and regions such as the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Thailand. It has established a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution, "Kiel School of Health Sciences". It has overseas branches in Portugal, South Africa, and Canada, and an international college in Macau. It has branches of the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Montenegro, Germany, and Belarus. It has also built the "China-Tajikistan Center for Traditional Medicine" in Tajikistan.

Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine actively expands its international education territory. Through the innovative model of "overseas branches + projects", it has carried out in-depth cooperation with many well-known overseas universities, opening the door to the palace of traditional Chinese medicine knowledge for students around the world. The university has overseas branches in Portugal, Canada, South Africa and other places, which serve as important bases for cultivating outstanding overseas talents in traditional Chinese medicine.
