西南医科大学始建于1951年，坐落于川渝滇黔结合区域的国家历史文化名城、全国文明城市——泸州。1982年获得学士学位授予权，1993年成为硕士学位授予单位，2001年开始联合培养博士，2004年起开展留学生本科学历教育，2010年获准设立博士后科研工作站，2021年获批博士学位授予单位，临床医学获批博士学位授权点。
Southwest Medical University (SWMU) was founded in 1951. It is located in Luzhou city, a Famous National Historical and Cultural City and National Civilized City, where is the conjunction area of Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Guizhou. It began to confer Bachelor’s degree in 1982 and Master’s degree in 1993. Since 2001, it has started the Joint Doctoral Promotion Program. In 2004, it began to offer Degree Program for international students. SWMU was permitted to set up National Post-doctoral Scientific Research Station in 2010. In 2021, the university was successfully approved as a doctoral degree awarding unit.
学校学科门类较为齐全，学科特色突出。临床医学、药理学与毒理学、生物学与生物化学、分子生物学与遗传学、化学等5个学科进入ESI全球排名前1%，其中临床医学在ESI全球排名前1%机构中位列25.08%。现有博士专业学位授权点1个，一级学科硕士学位授权点8个、硕士专业学位授权点11个。有普通本科专业33个，涵盖7个学科门类。
SWMU has a complete range of disciplines with prominent discipline characteristics. Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biology and Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Chemistry rank at the Top 1% disciplines in ESI ranking, while Clinical Medicine ranks 25.08% among the top 1% institutions in ESI ranking. The university has 1 authorized Doctor’s Degree, there are 8 first-level disciplines and 11 professional degrees authorized for master's degree, covering medicine, management, law, education and so on. SWMU provides 33 undergraduate majors includes 7 disciplines.
学校占地1,340,000平方米，有忠山、城北两个校区；设20个院（系），有在校本科生、研究生、留学生等2.4万余人；学校（含直属附属医院）有医教员工8000余人；有专任教师1400余人。先后建成教育部重点实验室等省部级及以上科技创新平台46个，获批省、市厅级科研团队49个。
SWMU covers a total area of 1,340,000 square meters, with Zhongshan and Chengbei campuses. It has 20 colleges and the total enrollment reaches over 24,000, including undergraduates, postgraduates and international students. There are over 8,000 faculties including staffs from affiliated hospitals. There are over 1400 full-time teachers. SWMU owns 46 key scientific research platforms, including the key laboratory of the Education Ministry of China and the provincial key laboratory, and 49 scientific research teams at provincial and municipal-level and above.
学校与25个国家和地区建立了对外合作交流关系，积极开展互访、教师培训、学生交流和科研合作等。先后为印度、孟加拉国等“一带一路”沿线国家培养博士后、研究生和本科生600余人。
SWMU has established cooperative relationships with 25 countries and regions. It has actively conduct mutual exchange of visits, teachers training, students exchange programs, and scientific research cooperation. SWMU has cultivated over 600 post doctors, postgraduates and undergraduates for countries along the “the Belt and Road Initiative” like India, Bangladesh and etc.
学校现有5所直属附属医院，作为西南四省（市）结合区域的省级医疗中心，为川渝滇黔结合区域广大人民健康保驾护航。
SWMU has 5 affiliated hospitals. As a provincial medical center in the junction area of Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Guizhou, SWMU and its affiliated hospitals offer great health service for the people and make positive contributions to local and national medical services.

♦ ⌈留学生培养概况 International Students Admission⌉
西南医科大学来华留学医学人才学历教育于2004年11月开始招收临床医学专业本科留学生。2013年被教育部列为招收本科临床医学专业（英语授课）来华留学生的高等学校。同年开始招收来华留学生硕士研究生，包括内科学、外科学、药剂学、运动医学、麻醉学等专业。2021年学校获批四川省来华留学示范基地：国际医学教育示范基地。2022年经教育部中外语言交流合作中心批准，学校正式成为全国汉语水平考试（简称HSK）考点资格院校。学校先后为巴基斯坦、印度、孟加拉国等“一带一路”沿线国家培养医学博士后、研究生和本科生600余人。
Southwest Medical University began academic education for medical talents studying in China in November 2004, recruiting undergraduate students majoring in Clinical Medicine (MBBS). In 2013, our university was listed by the Ministry of Education as an institution of higher learning for international students majoring in Clinical Medicine (taught in English). In the same year, it began to recruit international students for master's degree, including internal medicine, surgery, pharmacy, sports medicine, anesthesiology and other majors. In 2021, approved as a Demonstration base for International Medical education in Sichuan Province.In 2022, approved by the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education, the university has officially become a National Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) qualification institution. The university has trained more than 600 postdocs, postgraduates and undergraduates for Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and other countries along the "Belt and Road".
学校创新来华留学生培养模式，打造中国文化特色育人品牌，培育知华友华国际医学人才。2021年，留学生《熊猫与少年：油纸伞篇》获由国务院新闻办指导、中国外文局主办的大学生“讲好中国故事”创意传播大赛一等奖。学校《可见的大学教育视域下“一经一维三横三纵”国际教育育人模式实践》获“北大医学•教育论坛(2021)”最佳实践三等奖。2022年，留学生国际传播中华文化“第三只眼看中国”暑期社会实践活动入选全国“大我青春”2022暑期社会实践成果征集展示活动工作案例类优秀作品。2022年至2023年，留学生获中华经典诵写讲大赛国家级优秀奖1项、四川省二等奖1项、三等奖3项。2023年，6名留学生入选国际大体联最高级别教育活动FISU世界大运会学术大会，获中央电视台一套新闻联播报道。《西南医科大学构建“五位一体”国际医学人才培养体系服务“一带一路”教育行动》获中共四川省委教育工作委员会、四川省教育厅第61期简报专题刊登，向全省高校推广。2023年至2024年，学校连续获得“国际中文日·HSK短视频大赛”全球参赛机构优秀组织奖。2024年，学校《教育出海：智慧教育赋能国际医学教育改革的模式建构与创新路径》入选四川省国家智慧教育平台应用案例高等教育十大典型案例，《文化出海:国际大学生中医药文化“五维六育”育人体系构建与创新路径》获立项2025年四川省高校思想政治工作质量提升综合改革与精品建设。学校在第十届全国大学生基础医学创新研究暨实验设计论坛“一带一路”国际赛道获金奖。
The school innovates the education mode for international students studying in China, creates a Chinese cultural characteristic education brand, and cultivates knowledgeable and friendly international medical talents. In 2021, the international student "Panda and Youth: Oil Paper Umbrella" won the first prize in the "Tell China's Story" Creative Communication Competition for College Students, guided by the State Council Information Office and hosted by the China Foreign Languages Administration. The school's'《One Dimensional, Three Horizontals, and Three Verticals' International Education Model Practice from the Perspective of Visible University Education》won the third prize for best practice at the' Peking University Medical Education Forum (2021) '. In 2022, the "Third Eye on China" summer social practice activity for international students to spread Chinese culture was selected as an excellent work case in the national "Great Youth" 2022 summer social practice results collection and exhibition activity. From 2022 to 2023, international students won one National Excellent Award, one Second Prize, and three Third Prizes in the Chinese Classic Recitation and Writing Competition in Sichuan Province. In 2023, six foreign students were selected into the FISU Academic Conference of the World Universiade, the highest level educational activity of the International Federation of Physical Education and Sports, and received a news broadcast report from CCTV. The 《Southwest Medical University Building a" Five in One "International Medical Talent Training System to Serve the" the Belt and Road "Education Action》was published by the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee of Education Work Committee and Sichuan Provincial Department of Education in the 61st issue of the bulletin, which was promoted to colleges and universities across the province.From 2023 to 2024, the school has continuously won the Outstanding Organization Award for Global Participating Institutions in the International Chinese Day HSK Short Video Competition.
