学校发端于1904年张澜先生创办的顺庆府官立中学堂，至今已有120余年的办学历史。学校坐落在嘉陵江中游的川东北中心城市、千年绸都——南充市，是经四川省人民政府批准、国家教育部备案的公办全日制普通高等学校，设有11个二级教学单位50个普通专科专业，拥有教职工735人，现有全日制各类在校生15722人，累计招收来自俄罗斯、巴基斯坦等20余个国家的189名留学生，就业率保持在95%以上。
Founded in 1904 as Shunqing Prefecture Government Middle School by Mr. Zhang Lan, Nanchong Vocational and Technical College boasts a history of education spanning over 120 years. The college is located in Nanchong, a central city in northeastern Sichuan, nestled in the middle reaches of the Jialing River and renowned as the "Millennium Silk Capital." Approved by the Sichuan Provincial Government and registered with the Ministry of Education of China, it is a public full-time higher education institution comprising 11 secondary teaching units and offering 50 general specialist programs. With a faculty of 735 staff members, the college currently enrolls 15,722 full-time students and has cumulatively admitted 189 international students from more than 20 countries, including Russia and Pakistan, maintaining an employment rate above 95%.
学校获评教育部高职高专人才培养工作水平评估优秀学校、省优质高等职业院校、省“双高计划”建设单位、省“三全育人”综合改革试点院校，是国家高技能人才培训基地、工信部首批“专精特新产业学院”获批单位，建成省级新型研发机构——南充电子信息产业技术研究院，获省政府科技进步三等奖1项、省政府教学成果奖6项（其中特等奖1项、一等奖1项、二等奖3项、三等奖1项）。总体排名位列全省高职院校第一方阵。
The college has been recognized as an excellent institution in the Ministry of Education's assessment of talent training in higher vocational and technical education, a high-quality vocational college in Sichuan, a construction unit for the provincial "Double High Plan," and a pilot institution for comprehensive reform of "Three Comprehensive Educations" in Sichuan. It is also a national training base for high-skilled talents, one of the first approved units of the "Specialized and Innovative Industrial Academy" by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The college has established the Nanchong Electronic Information Industry Technology Research Institute, a provincial-level new-type research and development institution, and has won one third-prize award for scientific and technological progress from the provincial government and six provincial government teaching achievement awards, including one special prize, one first prize, three second prizes, and one third prize. Overall, it ranks among the top tier of vocational colleges in Sichuan.
学校入选教育部国际合作与交流司中德先进职业教育合作项目3个，中（国）老（挝）职教研究院首批职教教学改革研究项目2个，第一批“联合国教科文组织职业教育中心南亚中心发展中国家数字经济职业标准开发暨斯里兰卡数字经济职业标准开发双认证项目”1项，成功启动巴基斯坦智慧养鸡项目。
The college has been selected for three cooperation projects under the Sino-German Advanced Vocational Education Cooperation Program by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, two pioneering vocational education reform and research projects initiated by the China-Laos Vocational Education Research Institute, and one project under the first batch of "Developing Vocational Standards for the Digital Economy based Vocational Qualifications Framework for Developing Countries (DEVES)of the UNESCO Vocational Education Center for South Asia and Dual Certification Project for Developing Vocational Standards for the Digital Economy in Sri Lanka." Additionally, the college has successfully initiated a smart chicken farming project in Pakistan.
