Medical Cell Biology is a discipline rooted in cell biology and molecular biology, focusing on the structure, function, and life activities of human cells, as well as exploring the relationship between cellular abnormalities and disease development. This course is a required fundamental subject in modern medical education and one of the core courses in life sciences. It integrates core principles of cell biology with clinical applications to provide a solid foundation for students' future advanced studies and professional development in medicine, biomedical research, and related health fields.

课程团队精心制作了全英文授课、双语字幕的《Medical Cell Biology》慕课，已同步上线国家高等教育智慧教育平台和中国大学慕课（MOOC）（2023），并入驻“一带一路”国际医学教育合作平台“云课堂”国际慕课（2025）。课程受众主要为来华留学的临床医学专业本科生（MBBS），基础医学、临床医学等专业有双语学习要求的本科生，以及全球范围有医学背景或学习需求的社会人士等。课程覆盖“一带一路”沿线及欧美24个国家、92所机构，累计全球学习者已超1万人，实现了优质教学资源的规模化、国际化共享。丰富的双语数字化资源，为海外合作院校的学生提供了灵活便捷的“中国医学课程”学习通道，有效促进了校际间的学术与文化交流。
The course team has developed a fully English-taught MOOC, Medical Cell Biology, with bilingual subtitles. It was launched on the National Higher Education Smart Education Platform and China University MOOC in 2023, later included in the International MOOC "Cloud Classroom" of the Belt and Road International Medical Education Cooperation Platform in 2025.
The course primarily targets MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) international students in China, undergraduates in fields such as basic and clinical medicine requiring bilingual learning, as well as global learners with medical backgrounds or interests. It has reached over 10,000 learners across 24 countries and 92 institutions in Belt and Road regions and beyond, achieving broad international sharing of high-quality educational resources.
These comprehensive bilingual digital resources provide flexible and accessible pathways for students at overseas partner institutions to engage with "Chinese medical courses," effectively fostering academic and cultural exchange between universities.

教学团队现有专任教师16人，其中教授1人，副教授10人，讲师4人；博士10人，硕士6人。科室拥有生物化学和细胞生物学二级硕士学位授权点，硕导5人。具备双语专业教学能力的教师8名。近年团队承担各类科研课题50余项，其中国家自然科学基金项目6项，中国博士后科学基金面上项目1项、四川省科技厅项目10余项；在各级学术刊物发表学术论文100余篇，含SCI论文30余篇；获各级科技进步奖20余项。近5年送培博士研究生3人，外出学习培训10余人次，其中出国出境学习培训3人次。
《Medical Cell Biology》课程团队由4名主讲教师及2名实践教学教师，共6名教学经验丰富的专任教师组成。教学团队具有高职称、高学历、年轻化的特点。团队中副教授4人，讲师2人，高级职称理论课主讲率占75%；成员均为硕士以上高学历教师，硕士2人，博士4人；年龄结构合理，均为30-49岁的中青年教学骨干，其中70后教师2人，80后教师3人，90后教师1人。课程负责人蔡延森现年42岁，博士毕业于四川大学生命科学学院细胞生物学专业；教龄17年，有12年留学生教学经验；其他3位主讲教师教龄均超过十年，已从事全英文教学工作8-11年。团队教师多次参加国际、国内学术会议及教学活动，获得各级教学比赛奖项40余次；多次选派教师到国内外著名院校和实验室进行访学和进修，熟悉本学科领域的教学及研究动态。
At present, The teaching team currently consists of 16 full-time faculty members, including 1 professor, 10 associate professors, and 4 lecturers. Ten hold doctoral degrees, and six hold master's degrees. The department offers master's programs in both Biochemistry and Cell Biology, supervised by 5 master's thesis advisors. Eight faculty members are proficient in bilingual instruction.
In recent years, the team has undertaken over 50 research projects, including six grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and more than 10 from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Science and Technology. We have published over 100 academic papers, including more than 30 indexed in SCI, and have received over 20 science and technology progress awards at various levels. Over the past five years, the team has supported the doctoral training of 3 members and facilitated over 10 external training opportunities, including 3 international exchanges.
The Medical Cell Biology course is delivered by a dedicated team of 6 experienced full-time instructors: 4 lead lecturers and 2 practical teaching instructors. The team is characterized by high academic rank, strong educational background, and a relatively young profile. It includes 4 associate professors and 2 lecturers, with senior faculty delivering 75% of the theoretical lectures. All members hold at least a master's degree (2 M.S., 4 Ph.D.). The age structure is balanced, with all members being core faculty aged between 30 and 49: 2 born in the 1970s, 3 in the 1980s, and 1 in the 1990s.
The course leader, Cai, YanSen, aged 42, holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the College of Life Sciences, Sichuan University. With 17 years of teaching experience, he has taught international students for 12 years. The other three lead lecturers each have over a decade of teaching experience and 8–11 years of dedicated full-English instruction.
Team members regularly participate in international and domestic academic conferences and teaching activities, having won over 40 teaching competition awards. Faculty have been selected for visiting scholar programs and advanced training at renowned universities and laboratories both in China and abroad, ensuring familiarity with the latest trends in teaching and research within the discipline.
