Course leader and team introduction ⌉
In the past five years of curriculum reform, we have formed a teaching team structure of "resource integration and multi-party collaboration". The team teachers have a reasonable knowledge structure, age structure, and learning background structure, as well as overseas work and study experience, and have rich experience in foreign teaching work.
1. Knowledge and academic background structure. The teaching team consists of 5 on campus professional mentors, 4 off campus practical mentors, and 1 foreign professional teacher. Among them, there is one teacher with a doctoral degree and five teachers with a master's degree in music. In addition, the team is equipped with three cultural exchange mentors.
The team leader is a Ph.D. and professor studying abroad in South Korea, with 5 years of overseas study experience. They have successfully passed the doctoral thesis defense and obtained a Ph.D. in Public Administration (Policy Studies) in August. They have been engaged in research on Chinese ethnic music culture, regional culture, intangible cultural heritage protection, and red culture in the revolutionary base areas of Sichuan and Shaanxi for a long time. In October 2020, participated in the National Art Fund's 2022 Art Talent Training Support for "Cultivation of Key Talents in Ethnic Music Research Theory" and obtained a graduation certificate.
Practical teachers are inheritors of intangible cultural heritage and have long been engaged in the protection and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage, possessing rich practical experience. Cultural exchange mentor, engaged in long-term management of international students in China, with in-depth research on cultural differences and exchanges between China and foreign countries.
2. Teacher staffing situation. According to the policy of the Ministry of Education on international students studying in China, there is a long-term demand for the International College to offer an overview of Chinese culture. Four teachers, Wang Xiao, Cheng Juanjuan, Chen Jingya, and Zhang Xiaoyan, have been responsible for teaching this course for a long time. In recent years, as an excellent art director in the college, Professor Li Sicheng has strong English speaking skills and has extensive experience in exploring and researching folk music works; Teacher Low Chyh Shen, as a foreign teacher, is familiar with Chinese and foreign music cultures and can engage in in-depth exchanges with international students in China in terms of professional expertise.
Yan Xiaofeng, Ju Can, and Han Jiaxiu, as foreign affairs personnel, have experience in international exchange, international education theory, and practical experience. They can continue to provide effective teaching services for international students studying in China, solve problems and difficulties caused by cultural differences between China and foreign countries, and eliminate language exchange barriers. In addition, the team emphasizes the importance of practice and firmly believes in the principle of "true knowledge comes from the field", and education is an important way to inherit intangible cultural heritage. Xihua Normal University is located in the northeastern region of Sichuan, with particularly obvious geographical advantages. As inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, teachers Li Siyuan, Wang Biao, Wang Yang, and Wu Mingyuan allow international students to approach culture and gain a visual understanding of traditional Chinese music culture through practical classes. Their joining the teaching team of this course not only enhances the teaching power and practicality of this course, but also effectively reduces its student teacher ratio.
