乐山师范学院是一所国家公办普通高校，1938至1946年，国立武汉大学曾在此办学八年。学校始建于1978年。2000年3月经教育部批准，由原乐山师范高等专科学校、乐山教育学院合并升格为四川省省属普通本科院校，2024年获批国家硕士学位授予单位。
Leshan Normal University is a national public ordinary University. From 1938 to 1946, it had been 8 years since Wuhan University was relocated here. LSNU was founded in 1978, and in March 2000, approved by the Ministry of Education, the former Leshan Teachers College merged with Leshan Educational Institute, which was then upgraded to a general undergraduate institute in Sichuan Province, and in 2024, it was approved as a national master's degree-granting unit.
学校地处世界三大遗产所在地、中国最佳旅游目的地——乐山。学校现有全日制学生20000余人，教职员工1500余人。共有17个教学院，60个本科专业，涵盖文、理、工、教、农等十大学科门类，拥有教育、林业、材料与化工3个硕士点。
LSNU is located in Leshan, Sichuan province, a city which is the home to three world heritage sites, one of the best tourist destinations in China. LSNU has over 20,000 full-time students and over 1,500 faculty members. It includes 17 schools and 60 undergraduate majors, covering 10 disciplines, namely, literature, science, engineering, education, agriculture, etc. It has 3 master's programs in education, forestry, materials and chemical engineering.
学校在地方文化名人研究、教师教育、特殊教育、林竹资源开发与利用、世界遗产保护与旅游研究、硅材料与新能源技术应用、社会治理、互联网自然语言智能处理、废弃物资源化利用等方面特色较突出。
LSNU has made distinctive progress in the fields of local celebrity studies, teacher education, special education, forest and bamboo resources development and utilization, World heritage protection and tourism research, silicon materials and new energy technology application, social governance, Internet natural language intelligent processing, and waste resource utilization, etc.
学校历来重视高等教育对外开放与国际交流合作，先后与美国东北威斯康星州技术学院、捷克帕拉茨基大学、瑞典斯德哥尔摩大学、英国斯旺西大学、澳大利亚阳光海岸大学、泰国皇家理工大学等50余所国（境）外高等教育或研究机构建立了友好合作关系，共同开展师生交流、联合培养、科研合作、智库建设等活动。
LSNU has always attached great importance to the opening up of higher education and international exchange and cooperation, and has partnered with more than 50 higher education or research institutions abroad, such as Northeast Wisconsin Technical College of the United States, Palacky University of Czech Republic, Stockholm University of Sweden, Swansea University of the United Kingdom, University of The
Sunshine Coast of Australia, and Rajamangala university of Technology of Thailand, with whom a wide range of exchanges have been carried out, including faculty and student exchange, joint education, scientific research cooperation, think tank collaboration, and other activities.
