本课程自2011年起每年面向来华留学研究生开设,采用全英文授课,系统讲解光纤技术的核心理论与前沿应用。课程内容涵盖光纤基础理论与制备工艺、有源与无源光纤器件、光纤通信系统及光纤传感技术,全面构建学生在光纤领域的知识体系。依托电子科技大学信息与通信工程A+学科及光纤传感与通信教育部重点实验室的平台优势,课程以“理论-实践-研究-应用”一体化教学为特色,采用线上线下融合、翻转课堂、案例教学、实验实操与企业观摩等多元化教学方法,注重课堂讲授、实验室训练与产业实践的结合,帮助学生扎实掌握光纤技术的理论知识与实践技能。课程同时注重数字化教学资源建设,已建成包括多媒体课件、实验操作视频、在线课程录像在内的教学资源库。通过引入科研前沿与工程案例,并结合过程性考核与综合设计评价,课程着力培养学生的工程思维、创新能力和解决实际问题的能力,致力于培养具有国际视野与竞争力的高层次技术人才。
This course has been offered annually for international graduate students since 2011 and is taught entirely in English. It provides a systematic explanation of the core theories and cutting-edge applications of optical fiber technology. The curriculum covers fundamental theories and fabrication processes of optical fibers, active and passive fiber devices, fiber optic communication systems, and fiber sensing technologies, offering a comprehensive knowledge framework in the field. Leveraging the platform advantages of the A+ discipline in Information and Communication Engineering and the Key Laboratory of Optical Fiber Sensing and Communications at UESTC, the course features an integrated teaching approach combining "theory, practice, research, and application." It employs diverse teaching methods such as online-offline blended learning, flipped classrooms, case-based learning, hands-on laboratory training, and enterprise visits. The course emphasizes the integration of classroom lectures, laboratory exercises, and industrial practice to help students firmly grasp both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in optical fiber technology. The course also focuses on the development of digital teaching resources, having established a repository including multimedia courseware, experimental operation videos, and recorded online lectures. By incorporating research frontiers and engineering cases, along with process-based assessments and comprehensive design evaluations, the course aims to cultivate students' engineering thinking, innovation capability, and problem-solving skills, striving to train high-level technical talents with international perspective and competitiveness.

This course is supported by a well-structured and experienced teaching team. The course director, Professor Zhang Weili, has extensive overseas research experience and rich teaching experience with international students, having received multiple university-level honors such as "Excellent Course Teacher" and "Excellent Supervisor." Core team member Professor Rao Yunjiang is a renowned scholar in the field of fiber optic sensing with profound academic and teaching expertise. All instructors hold doctoral degrees and have international backgrounds, with expertise covering Information and Communication Engineering, Optical Engineering, and other related fields, achieving interdisciplinary synergy. In recent years, the teaching team has actively engaged in curriculum reform and resource development, exploring and establishing distinctive teaching models such as the "classroom + laboratory + enterprise workshop" three-dimensional classroom and the "multimedia + physical objects" virtual-real integration approach, and has received several teaching achievement awards. The team emphasizes the integration of research into teaching, incorporating cutting-edge research outcomes into the curriculum, thereby strongly supporting the high-quality and international development of the course.
